Salut!
it's quite a tiring day, but special as well, I guess...
Today, my family got a special guest who comes from San Fransisco. Yap, it's my dad's cousin, who I should call with "auntie" . She is also a famous writer, especially humor. She has written over 50 books, both in English and Chinese. Awesome, huh?
Asking for her name? Well... I'm not really sure about his English name, Aileen or something. But her Chinese is Linyao Wu or Wu Ling Yao. Well, I'm not so sure :p
Ok, enough with the small introduction...
She arrived from Denpasar at around 10.30 today and I had to accompany my dad to pick her up at Juanda with a extremely sleepy condition. And we had to wait for about half an hour... Geez...!
Well, finally we've got her in our car.
She commented about our lovely international airport, Juanda, that it is terribly in a mess and so unorganized like the bus station in China. Hahaha... I think Indonesia should put more attentions to its international airports.
She seems so excited with all the things in Surabaya. One thing I still remember, she looked so excited when the car passed through some pedicaps - or we usually call it "BECAK" - that stopped along the street.
"Hey, I would like to try that! Seems so interesting. What is it called?" she said.
I kept wondering why would she like to try pedicap-ing? Well, guess it's because there is no one like that in San Fransisco.
We got a reason why we should be proud of Indonesia. It is proved that tourists love Indonesia's original BATIK! So, we headed to Mirota Batik and helped her find some BATIK as souvenirs :)
Geez, I've never imagined that Mirota Batik will have so many amazing Indonesian souvenirs. Really INDONESIA ♥ ! And I can't hold myself for buying some mini WAYANG! I bought 4, they are: Arjuna, Srikandi, Sri Rama, Dewi Shinta. Why them? Just so you know, Sri Rama and Dewi Shinta are couple, and so do Arjuna and Srikandi. Geez, I admire Srikandi so much ♥ !!! She's my favorite heroine!
*I'll update the pics later :)
So, after spending the whole afternoon batik-hunting, we headed to Araya to show her some elite houses. Guess what she told me next?
"My entire land is about 2000 m2, but it is only used about 350 m2 for the house. " OMG~ I'm so speechless! :x
At around 10 p.m. , finally we went home! She told me that she owns 4 cars, all are Mercedes-Benz type E. Ok... Guess that Germany-made-elite car is just a small thing for her, who has been living in San Fransisco for about 30 years right after graduated from National Taiwan University.
THE WORST PART COMING!!!
Since we don't have extra room - or usually called "guest room" - in my house, she has to sleep in my parents' bedroom, and my parents moved to... my brother and I 's small bedroom!!! Arrrrggghhh!!! Disaster!!!
First, it means I can't make a late call with my beloved boyfriend.
Second, the worst, I just can't stand my dad's louder-than-diesel-snoring sound!!!
Geez!!!
I kinda hate this part, that why my parents didn't buy a bigger house, so that both me and my brother will own a room. *sigh~
So, here I am, in front of the laptop, waiting for my eyes to fully close, while chatting with my beloved boyfriend ( LOVE YA! ♥) ...
Guess I'll end this with some of her comments about Indonesia - especially Denpasar and Surabaya, and some other little infos.
*she likes KLEPON
*o geez, she LOVES DURIAN!
*she seems excited with "CUCI", such as: cuci sofa, cuci mobil. We can see the adverstise almost everywhere, right??
*Bali's beach is cleaner than Surabaya's (no doubt!)
*she gave me and my brother $200 each. As angpao, she said. (Thanks auntie! You are sooo kind!)
*she seems confused when someone called another with "Pak". She thought, "why are u calling him with 'Pa'? Is he your dad?" . You know, "Pak" sometimes similar with "Pa". She doesn't know that "Pak" means "Sir". This is the quite funny part... Hahahhaha
AND LAST...
*she ♥ BATIK!
Well, guess that's all for today. I'm heading to Mount Bromo tonight, around midnight, I guess. Just can't wait!
bonne nuit! ♥
love,
liljade :)
